Is Your Training Getting Boring?
by Bill Hinbern

I get emails, letters and phone calls about training problems all the time.

One of the biggest complaints is that of boredom.

Trainees say it gets to the point where they dread going into their gym.

...and we all know what that means,

Missed workouts.

How can we correct the problem?

Change things around!

Take a long hard look at your training quarters.

Seriously, consider what can be done to make it more inviting.

Gotta flat bench?

Turn it around 180 degrees.

Those barbell plates are probably black in color, right?

Paint them!

Paint them blue! Paint them green! Paint them yellow!

For the price of a can of spray paint, you'd be surprised at what a different color will do!

Is your gym cluttered?

Clean it up! Start putting your barbell plates back where they belong.

Each time you train, leave your gym the way you found it.

Tired of doing the same exercise routine?

Change it around!

Mix it up! Give it some variety!

Change the order in which you do your exercises!

Change the number of sets!

Change the number of reps!

Dig up some of your old training apparatus!

Try a different form of resistance.

If you are training with barbells, try bodyweight training!

If you are doing bodyweight training, switch over to barbells!

If your present barbell training routine has left you in a slump, give it some variety:

Change over to a good dumbbell routine.

Change over to a good kettlebell routine.

Etc., etc., etc.

There are so many things that you can do to make your training more interesting and anything but boring.

Give these suggestions a try and then get back to me and let me hear about things you have done to keep your interest in training.

Yours for Greater Strength,
